Richmond Castle 10K

I was very excited about this year's Hilly Clothing Richmond Castle 10K and when I saw the weather forecast I was even more pleased. What a lovely weekend for such a fantastic race!

It was great to be involved in setting up and finalising arrangements on Friday and Saturday. Sunday morning was an early start to open up the desk and meet the first runners to arrive. The Market Hall was a hive of activity from then on as the army of marshals arrived, buzzing with team spirit. It was marvellous to watch the field line up at 11am, ready to face our "undulating" course. Congratulations to Marc Scott of Richmond and Zetland Harriers who finished first in a time of 33.26. First lady was Michelle Holt of Sunderland Harriers in a time of 39.10. It was fabulous to see some of our members running too; Darran Bilton being our first male finisher in 3rd place and 1st M45 and Jacqueline Keavney being our first lady home.

Thanks once again to Hilly Clothing, Sweatshop and UKresults for their continued support of the event. Thank you also to the Friends of Crakehall School who stepped in and organised the catering which was wonderful. Thanks to all our members and their family and friends who gave up their time to support the race as marshals and officials. The race cannot be run without your contribution and it is greatly appreciated. Last, but most certainly not least, thank you to Julie, Pete, Jo and Stuart for making the race happen and ensuring all the details were carefully ironed out. We've had some lovely messages via email in the last few days complimenting the organisation and marshaling. This race is a credit to our club and it was an honour to be a part of it.
