Host your own run: East Harsley
A huge thank you to all who turned up to the East Harlsey Cricket Club on Remembrance Sunday for another hosted run. I was delighted to welcome a further 12 members to help assess this route for a possible course for the HDMS League in 2012.
We assembled for 2 minutes silence before jogging out of the cricket ground, up a small hill to the proposed start at the pub. The route comprises a gentle downhill on-road before turning onto part of the Coast to Coast track on the level for a further 2 miles. Then it rejoins a quiet rural lane for a steady ascent to the hamlet of West Harlsey and then again gently downhill to rejoin the road for the return to the cricket club and a finish in front of the pavilion (no lap of the pitch!).
Total distance: 10k.
In clearer weather this route affords great views of the Cleveland Hills. Sadly autumnal mist put paid to that but otherwise I was very grateful for runners' feedback as we went along and assessment of the facilities for parking, access, toilet facilities and the proposed venue post-race for refreshments.
Above all¸ thanks to all who turned out and took part, especially those who travelled over from Richmond and beyond, and to all of you for enjoying the refreshments so wholeheartedly!
If anyone who could not make this morning but is interested in running the course, please get in touch and we could arrange another date.
