Middlesbrough 10K

There were some excellent performances at the Middlesbrough 10K, with Martin Luxton smashing his PB by 51 seconds to finish as 2nd V55 in 41.13 and Jackie Keavney 2nd V45 in 42.50. Read on for full Swaledale results and John Wilson's race report.

After a late online entry, off to Middlesbrough I went on Sunday morning with Richard Smith at the wheel. There were loads of people there which gave it a real big race feel. The athletes' village was great with  a live band playing, an excellent start to hopefully a good run. 10.45 and we were away. It  got  hot and muggy just before the start which was nice for the supporters, not so nice for us runners, - I found it very hot (not good) for me. As the roads were closed for the entire route there were no worries about traffic and the water stations at 3, 5 and 8K were very welcome. I followed just behind Stu Smith , overtook him at 7.5k ish and finished in 39.01 chip time. It was a great race with bands playing on the route around and really well organised!

John Wilson

Swaledale results: John Wilson 39.01, Stuart Smith (running for Pocklington) 39.43, Martin Luxton 41.13, Jackie Keavney  42.50 (2nd vet 45), Richard Smith 50.13 (after a stop at 5K due to overheating!)
