Nine Standards Fell Run

I went and did the Nine Standards fell race today, a new one for me. It's a cracking run, one to do again. It's 8 miles and 1800ft of ascent. The standard was amazing, British and English champs there. The ladies' course record was broken by four minutes. In all about 110 runners did the race. It was the usual enter on the day and soup in the pub afterwards, just what you need. The rain held off but the route was very boggy and slippery. I stepped in a puddle right up to my middle, no lie!

Jackie Keavney

The results are now in (see www.fellrunner.org.uk) and they show just how well Jackie did. She finished in 1.14.33, making her 11th woman and 3rd V40 - particularly impressive when you see the names of the two ladies ahead of her. Overall she was 62nd out of a total of 109 finishers, with a certain Michael Keavney In 63rd place.
